Milestones

Prof. Günter Faltin founds Projektwerkstatt to launch the idea of Teekampagne. He wants to show his students that a carefully thought out concept is crucial when starting an enterprise. Teekampagne functions as a practical model for entrepreneurship. Sales: 3.5t

The Tea Board of India, the official Indian tea authority, grants the right to use its seal of authenticity, which certifies 100% pure Darjeeling. Teekampagne is the first German company to receive this right. It is one step to create awareness for the fact that worldwide four times as much tea is sold as Darjeeling tea than actually can be produced. Sales: 80t

The steep slopes of the tea gardens are endangered by soil erosion. Günter Faltin initiates a reforestation project for the Darjeeling region. The program is extended by further activities to improve the socio-economic conditions of the inhabitants of the Darjeeling Hills and implemented by WWF-India since 1996. Project SERVE - Save the Environment and Regenerate Vital Employment - is funded entirely by Teekampagne.

Teekampagne becomes the market leader in the German tea mail order business. Projektwerkstatt hits the market with a new entrepreneurial idea: designer armchairs made from water hyacinths, a tropical weed.

According to the Tea Board of India, Teekampagne has become the world's largest importer of Darjeeling leaf-tea. Sales: 300t

Professor Faltin sets up the Stiftung Entrepreneurship (Entrepreneurship Foundation) to spread the message of creative entrepreneurship.

Teekampagne is the first German company to sign a license agreement with the Tea Board of India and gives full disclosure of all imports and sales. Since genuine Darjeeling tea is still blended with cheaper teas from other areas and sold as “Darjeeling” the Tea Board of India developed the license system to have a means to tackle the problem of adulteration.

Teekampagne launches a system for traceability. Each customer can track online the way his or her tea took – from Darjeeling to your cup.

Projektwerkstatt starts its CO2 campaign – energy saving lamps in large packages at a reasonable price.

Teekampagne receives the award „Deutscher Gründerpreis“ (German Business Founder Award). By this award above-average entrepreneurial input is recognised which helps to place entrepreneurial role models in the public's consciousness.

For his achievements in the field of entrepreneurship, the founder of Teekampagne, Prof. Faltin, received an order of merit of the the Federal Republic of Germany.
