What is Darjeeling Tea?

Darjeeling tea is the world's finest and most expensive tea. It has a distinctive and unique flavor. Tea aficionados regard it as the "champagne of tea."

Where is Darjeeling tea produced?

Darjeeling tea is grown and produced in the region of Darjeeling. The region of Darjeeling is located on the southern slopes of the Himalayan Mountains in the North of West Bengal, India. There are 86 tea estates which produce Darjeeling tea. Only teas that come from these estates can be called Darjeeeling teas. Darjeeling tea cannot be replicated anywhere else in the world.

What is the difference between Green Tea and Black Tea?

Black tea and green tea are made from the same tea leaves. Black tea is a fermented tea; green tea is an unfermented tea. To prevent fermentation, green tea undergoes a process of steaming immediately after it is plucked.

How much Darjeeling tea is produced annually?

The annual production of Darjeeling tea is approximately 10,000 tons.

What is the Darjeeling logo? Why is it important?

The Darjeeling tea logo was launched by the Tea Board of India, the official Indian tea authority. It designates Pure Darjeeling Tea. Only companies that sell 100 % genuine Darjeeling tea are given permission by the Tea Board to print the logo on their product.
